Autumn Day

Browns and reds
Mark the way
Where children
Walk to school,
Sunlight through
The meadow
Reflects upon
A pool,
Where insect dancers
Jump about
With no particular aim,
As dogs run by
With stick in mouth,
To enjoy
A fetching game.

Oh how I love
The autumn,
Most colourful time
Of year,
A time that we can
Share with
Those we hold
Most dear,
I walk with you
In my mind,
Although you're far away,
I kiss you in
The morning dew,
And give thanks
For the autumn day.
